The Garden Club toured 10 of the members personal gardens on Wednesday.......
From pocket sized gardens to half acre sized lots, ravine properties, wild shady gardens, vegetable gardens, commercial business garden , rock garden, to a bed and breakfast garden and a long established heritage home garden. The weather cooperated no rain , coolish and part sun, great for touring.Several gardens had water features with water lilies, papyrus and of course koi swimming happily. With the cool early summer weather gardens are not as far along as usual, roses just budding out now, lupines, peonies and alliums just at peak now.We strolled thru winding paths finding interesting plants, one of the favourites, a gas plant with it's lovely pink spires, large flowering clematis, unique garden ornaments, loved the picture frame on a wrought iron stand, sundial anchoring a large curved perennial bed; the quirky face on a mature tree; the largest and most mature mulberry tree I've ever seen, laden with fruit; the strawberry row covered with mesh to protect the fruit from birds, if these plants are any indication the crop of berries this year will be very abundant , that is if it warms up to ripen the fruit.Finished up the day with a buffet lunch at a Swiss restaurant called Neighbours.......
This tour showed off so many unique gardens each with their own beauty............got so many ideas....
