The heavily laden Limelight hydrangea bush needed to be pruned, several of the branches laying on the ground .Since I love the look of dried hydrangea floral arrangements that are so expensive to buy . A brain wave ! Dry my own!
Here are the blossoms.
Some fully open which directions for drying say pick when just open.
Some with a few tiny blossoms yet to unfurl, which type of stem will dry the best?
When researching drying techniques 3 were to most used, air drying hanging stems upside down ,inserting stems in glycerin mixture or and the one I am using, clean leaves off stem leaving stems 12 -18 inches long insert into a vase with 1 inch of water letting the water evaporate , add no more water and let the flowers will slowly dry......
We have had rain, rain, and more rain so hoping this does not effect the drying process.
Will let you know if this succeeds........
