I don't think Wal-Mart makes money on a lot of their DVDs. They sell them at a loss to get people in their stores. If people buy on iTunes, they don't come into Wal-Mart.
Are you serious? Wal-Mart doesn't put a single thing in their store if it doesn't make them money. With Wal-Mart selling 40% of ALL DVD sales, they are making a nice revenue.
The only thing that they may start doing that doesn't make them much is their new generic drug program, where they are selling over 300 generic drugs at a much deeper discount then leading competitors. Wal-Mart isn't required to report earnings in this field, so who knows how it will go. I'm assuming well.

You all crack me up at least, thanks for the chuckles!
Conditional thievery is just something people do in order to justify whatever they are doing unlawfully. Downloading and cracking the Adobe suite? HIGH FIVE! Breaking into a car dealership and driving off with a car you didn't pay for? NO of course not! Because 'that's different' when it isn't. A company offers a product/service and you are using it/taking it without compensation for that item. Digital or physical it's the same thing.
The funniest are the OSS/Linux advocates who claim that "piracy isn't theft" and "it doesn't hurt anyone" and then whine like a baby when someone "violates" the GPL and call for stern measures (such as lawsuits) against the violater.
Hey, if no one is hurt when you do it then no one is hurt when someone does it to you.

Actually, I think Tesco's share of the grocery business in the UK is much larger than Walmart's share of the retail business in the US.
And the worst thing is, it's growing at a more alarming rate than Walmart.
(And it's looking to expand to the US, from West to East, in the very near future...!)
I don't have any problem with Tesco, I'm all in favour if it means lower prices - I'm sure I am paying the same for my groceries as I did 5-10 years ago. Though we are spoilt for choice where I live - within a 10-15 minute drive I've got the following big supermarkets; Asda x2, Morrisons x1, Sainsbury's x2 and Tesco x1.
Its easy to forget the lower prices that supermarkets have given us. In the UK they played a major role in pushing the prices of cds below 10 with very little effect on other high street or internet retailers.

So what is the bus for the Superdrive? Is it the old Parallel ATA with the ribbon cable?Yes the chipset has PATA for optical right now, they also show the two unused SATA over by the Optical drive -- but use them for whatever if they are there.
Doesn't mean Apple won't switch and make use of them for optical if there is need.

They had only one which they were trying to see if the customer was going to pick up (bought at another store), but while the clerk was calling to check on it's status they did say that i'd have to by an accessory and apple care if it became available.
These guys are dirty. I didn't feel all that good about going there to get one anyhow, I've never been a fan of their over priced stuff. This was the icing on the cake.
This blatant greed really turns me off, I wont be back ... for one of these or anything else.

This would be great, espessialy if the display would be of a more "reader pleasant" kind, like the new digital paper books from Sony & Co ;)

Miserable weather here today, with heavy rain when it should be snowing :(
Cardinals in my backyard are rain soaked.

About time...but at this stage should i wait for the Santa Rosa platform with the ram drives and all that?? ;)
Yes, you should wait. The more people wait for the next generation, the earlier everyone else can get their MacBooks.

And do you know how long it takes to assemble one?
I'm not sure, though I am sure it's a closely guarded secret, considering how secretive Foxconn is in general. I heard the other day that an AP photographer was beaten by their security guards after they caught him taking pictures near the factory, though I can't seem to find the story now.

I'm definitely staying away from this update for now. Something about it actually just kind of scares me. It helps that my week 21 MacBook has only had the mooing issue and nothing else (so far). That issue has gone away with SMC Firmware Update 1.0, and I've had a great laptop ever since.
I feel rather lucky. :)
I don't get people who avoid important updates. I'd install it just to avoid future problems from forming. My MacBook runs fine with the update, and the fans are coming on less often as well which is appreciated.
Isn't everyone assuming here that the root problem is a heatsink issue? Has Apple ever announced that it was? Perhaps it isn't at all, or that's only part of the equation, and it is in fact an SMC control problem. There's a lot of FUD here - people saying they've had extra screws drilled in their MacBooks which is total BS.
I wouldn't try second-guessing Apple engineers. If they've released an update recommended to make the MacBook more reliable, I say use it.
Absolutely. I'm a bit surprised at all the misinformation (nobody is drilling a friggin' screw in your MacBooks, people).

Can't wait til June to see what's coming to iOS 5 though.
Same here, I loved the "expose" like view in that video a while back...Android has a similar page view and its wonderful. Anyhoo, I really hope the iP6 has a bigger screen (up to 4" with minor bezel) to facilitate said functionality

Haha, I wouldn't dare. I use mine for work, and getting a company in trouble for using hacked OSs is a no no.
Yeah...I'm already dowloading latest version of Limewire and BitTorrent only for that..:D

^^^ Awesome for 6400 ISO! Looking forward to more shots from Sat. if you have them. :)
Thanks so much! Yea, I'm very impressed by the high ISO, although I think the snow might be helping it blend a bit.
I wish I spent more time consciously framing shots, and waiting for the right moment to snap pictures. This photo I think would have been much better if I waited for those two boys to leave the frame, and if I didn't cut her legs off.

Ultimate usage of my Apple stuff: iPad as excellent calculator during making my homework for math, in a perfect viewing angle thanks the Apple iPad case (I own since today, excellent case). MBP used as music player for the relaxing during making homework thanks to iTunes. iPhone used as camera. Love my Apple stuff!
iPad as an excellent calculator? Only if you're doing 4th, 5th, 6th grade maths and even so, shame on you. Ho there's spacetime and pocket cas, well they're crap.
*Facepalm*
Want a real calculator?
Install matlab/mathematica on your laptop.
Oh the iPad...
Well trow it away.
