Sigh, I dont like the way Apple configure models to get you to spend more to get features that should be standard.
512Mb RAM and a Combo Drive which probably costs them 50p
Most people ship with 512mb in their base laptops at the moment and as for the combo drive the vast majority of us never even think about burning a dvd. Better to release a cheaper model and offer the user the chance to upgrade than price people out with unrequired features - although obviously a gb of ram would be handy.

Interesting... I was about to edit my last post that Apple's site doesn't claim the Macbook has any slots... I can't see any in the Macbook QTVR images either.

BTW - The people saying he did a second rate job or is a crappy developer, obviously are not familiar with iPhone development or the code that he created. The Three20 project was very good. I understand his frustration and am not surprised by his decision.

yes, apple will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't have that issue resolved in the second generation model.

Yeah, any kind of idea would be good...
This way apple updates their stuff is bloody annoying! You can't plan any upgrades, and I refuse to buy a macbook knowing full well that there is an update of any kind just around the corner!
As it stands I may actually need to purchase one very soon, but I don't think I could stomach buying into something this late in it's product cycle.

I don't think there was a problem until Apple entered the music business. At that point Apple Records got a bit nervous, since there might be confusion. Obviously if I want to start Apple Lawnmowing Incorporated, there is no problem between me and Apple Records. It's all about the similar markets.

New setup, my brother and I decided we want make enough music together to make a setup just for that. My macbook and his iMac, side by side. My macbook runs logic node so the iMac can offload some of it's work. Main sound card is a lexicon i-onix.

Well, just accentuates the fact that the UK isn't run by a bunch of idiots. Knowing France well, it's appalling the figures being shown there. The french government is a joke, somewhat corrupt and is just a poorly governed country. It seems to me the good people suffer whilst the bad people get away with it, truly despicable.
I know they hospitalise children under 18 for mental illness, the UK doesn't do that and I don't know any other nation which does that. SURELY It's ridiculous for people who aren't even adults to be in mental institutes for weeks and even months? Won't that in fact affect their mental stability by being with other Ill patients?

Just called couple of radioshacks and 9/10 confirmed that they are in fact going to have them tomorrow. The stock is very limited though .. 1-3 pieces.

You have to use a Mac running XCode to set the IPad in development mode to enable gesture support.

That is just sad. It's a developer conference, not a media event (it just happens to have one at the start when Apple shows off all the new software). I wouldn't go to WWDC even if I was given free tickets because I couldn't benefit from the conference as much as a real developer (I doubt messing around with XCode for fun counts). Trying to resell tickets like that hurts the platform.
It is only 2 so far so it hasn't evolved into a major scalping problem just yet.
Maybe a dev that was away from the net for half a day really needed to go and missed registration.
I know after last year, I didn't dare wait however if work had been really busy today I wouldn't have had a chance to register in time.

But Apple's server is getting hammered right now... I got through to print out the affected serial numbers, then powered down my AlBook, just to be safe, popped out the battery to see if I had a lucky number, and now that I know I do, I can't get back onto the site.
Oh well. I'll try again later.
One thing I wonder about is what the consequences of keeping the 'dangerous' battery as a back-up would be... I'm not really worried about it exploding, but will the Apple police come after me for not returning the old battery once they ship me a new one? Obviously, it would be my own fault if my laptop exploded when using the old battery, but I'm willing to take that risk.

... Just think about it: Sarkozy got funding for his last campaign illegally from libya. Can there be a more convinient way of getting away from that dirty laundry than bombing them into oblivion ? While at home showing how much of a strong leader he is for increasing popularity ?

Yes but it does clearly state Core 2 Duo in the product name and the release date of 13th November, they could have just copied the spec of the existing one as they are unsure of the new spec. What is telling is the date, they obviously expect it to happen on the 13th
As i pointed out on digg, they do appear to have cmd-c, cmd-v'd the specs and then added a speculative date to a slightly changed title. However, also note that their new MacBook Pros, (that have already been shipping remember), are also stating a 13/11/2006 shipping date as a pre-order.
This is far from confirmed and we may even see them appear this week rather than next.

Just because some are successful does not mean all can be. There is plenty of racism still around in most countries, and yes it does effect the less off more than those that are well off.
Because Blacks are not all the same. You cant lump people of one race all in one group and expect them to all to have the same results. There is a history in the US of racism that still effects many black Americans. Many black Americans can't afford to go to college for example. Poverty is a vicious cycle that preys on its self.

And we're not even talking about the US, this thread is about Britain. Many blacks in Britain are immigrants, unlike in the US. So they have no history of anything there.
