Maybe they'll announced that they've finally got AirDisk working with the Airport Extreme n, and will apologise for their complete incompetence and track record with this product so far.
If we're REALLY lucky we might even be able to use AirDisk with Time Machine.
Or maybe it will be the smell of ******** when Steve gives some other product the false hype that the Airport Extreme got...
Or maybe a full sized Wireless Keyboard.

The budget exercise lets you feel like a politician. I was disappointed that there was no entry box for my pork barrel projects and pay raise.

Those are some really nice specs, I am sorry if this has been answered before but do we know what Core 2 Duo they are? Conroe or Merom

How do they know these things? At any rate the stores are down. Exciting stuff but i bet this thread gets more negatives than positives.

It's how they get round the fingermarks on touchscreen issue. From Tuesday we'll all be using MultiBreath™
I'm just hoping it's nothing along the lines of "Welcome to the Social". That would be seriously rubbish.

I'm so glad I'm in Microcomputer Apps right now and have access to the internet, I just glanced at these specs and OMG they're pretty amazing, 24 inches instead of the 23 inch wow just wow.
I can't wait to walk into an Apple store and check these things out, that 24 inch screen has to be amazing!

I guess if her main criteria for car choice is killing people in small cars then she has picked the right car.
Yep. Hear it all the time. "Protect my family", "Keep my family safe". In other words, kill the other party so that your offspring may live. The attitude needs to change. Yugo's for everyone.

As much as im not a fan of the iMacs, the price/performance value is impressive. The 24" on an iMac is a little impractical for me...on a standard display yes ...on an iMac no. If i were to buy one (which i'm tempted to) i'd get the 20" model and max it out. Still i prefer the MacPro. Maybe the family will get one for the new desk in the living area as a central system. Good job Apple, while i knew you'd pick meroms i was hoping you'd go with Conroe especially with a 24" version. Oh well.....

Forgive me if this isn't new, but I just noticed that you can order the BT keyboard and mighty mouse as a package for $60 ($54 edu discount). Given that the BT MM alone is $69, this is a great deal.

Here's a quote for you
Avid,FCP7,Premiere,Vegas all have a viewer.
Now I know some people that don't use the viewer all that much and I know others that swear by it.
I myself have been using it less and less over time
But they can't even say it's dead or anything is missing, because the demo is so limited.
The images we see are limited ... and are showcasing new things... that doesn't mean one can't turn the viewer on.

oh my... will the nano do ebooks?
Dear God! i hope not! That would practically be an exercise in utter futility!
Good thing my upgrade cycle is coming along... Hmmmm... wait for the 4 core Conroe or not... :D
This large screen iPod (Newton 2? ;-) has potential to become many many things... Interesting times we live in.

It looks like Apple got sick of the scratch complaints and went back to the Mini design. Odd that Apple would take a step back on the design front. Of course I always thought the Nanos were boring anyway, so maybe now this will give me an incentive to get one.
And let the "I have to pay how much extra for black" complaints begin...

When touting the benefits of widescreen display, viewing websites shouldn't be one of the selling points. Non-widescreen displays are far superior than widescreen displays. Why? Simple. Websites scroll vertically. The longer the screen, the more you can display at once. Widescreen displays result in much more scrolling since any decent website doesn't require horizontal scrolling at ANY resolution. Having a wide but short window in a browser gives you nothing and takes away a lot.
You might say that you can get more text on one line with a widescreen display. Well, you don't really want this. There's a reason the 80-character standard exists. 80 might not always be appropriate, but the premise holds true that it's easier to read text in narrower columns over multiple lines than on fewer, longer lines.
Not to mention Apple puts the dock at the bottom of the screen by default, further reducing visible content on a website. I always move mine to the right.
The only reason I can see a widescreen display being beneficial is for watching movies, but I think everyone looks at websites more often than they watch movies on their laptops.

Thinkpads are built incredibly well.
I know what you're saying though, MOST windows laptops are crap.
This... my T410 kills.
My Dell 1525 is what it is... a cheap laptop that has actually held up very well. Surprised me even. I expected a year to a year and a half tops out of it. Short of the track pad issue that Dell promptly replaced, it still looks brand new.

GRRR, iTunes grabs 700 MB of RAM on my PC as soon as it's opened. It releases it when it's closed, but my machine becomes pretty much useless when iTunes is open.

Well it sounds like Apple wants to release all of their iOS devices (the iPad, iPod and iPhone) at the same time, a month or two before christmas, and a month or two after their new iOS release.
That way, they can make everything uniform.
A new iOS is shown every summer. Then a few months later, once developers are used to use, and all the bugs are fixed, a round of iOS devices built around the new OS debut, and people buy them up like crazy for the next several weeks to give as Christmas gifts.
That doesn't make sense from a revenue angle for them. By lumping all their releases in a narrower window, they don't get the more consistent spread out over the year press coverage, media buzz, and most importantly, buying. If all iOS devices came out so close together, people would have to prioritize which one to get as they typically won't spend the money on multiple devices in such a short timeframe. By keeping them spread out, someone can justify buying an iPad in the spring, an iPhone in mid to late summer and an iPod at the holidays, etc. And others will opt to get their devices in different combinations and sequences. Having a new iPad released this March didn't hurt Apple's iPad sales last Christmas, nor will it do so this Christmas, so releasing a new one in the fall won't help them. Steve even said that 2011 will be the year of the iPad 2. Not the iPad 2 and 3. There are already supply issues with panels and Apple is paying a premium to secure larger supplies of panels to keep iPad 2 production up. That points to an iPad retina display being a spring 2012 upgrade.

I hope they significantly improve the voice recognition abilities if they are to make it a more prominent feature of the OS. The voice control in iOS is appalling - it has NEVER ONCE understood me - and the results appear to be worse if talked to through the headphones mic. In fact, I'm always forced to scurry into my pocket to try to cancel a call to some person I haven't spoken to in years...
Maybe it just doesn't work with British accents?

wireless capabilities is the way of the future. I don't see ourselves in 10 years still being limited by wired headphones and such. Maybe it'll be easier than the Zune (haven't seen the demo) but the idea of beaming a song for somebody else to download/hear is pretty cool to me.
wireless headphones, sure. That's coming, and soon. But beaming songs to other people? No, I don't think it will ever be a very popular idea. I want to listen to my music, not the guy's next to me. That's why I own what I own and not something else. Besides, if I'm wearing headphones that probably means I'm not with anyone I know, and I'm certainly not going to be sharing music with strangers because it would just be weird.
