Many Hummingbirds are enjoying the canna nectar
\What a joy to see these birds flittng about.
The cannas have taken over in some of the gardens
will have to be a little more picky with location next spring.
Flowering as well , Rose of sharon;
Black Knight butterfly bush;
Southern Hibiscus;
2 new purchases ; so excited about , I have been wanting a fringe tree;
These trees(Chionanthus virginicus), are supposed to be one of the finest spring bloomers . It is a small tree 15 to 20 feet in height and spread; a North American native, and as beautiful as it is, it remains uncommon in gardens. Fringe tree, is also called Old-man's beard. It blooms just after the dogwoods .
The snow white fringe tree flowers are produced in loose, terminal 6-inch long panicles that have the ethereal look of puffy white clouds.
Will it flower for me next spring?
I am also trying an azalea;Rhododendron mucronulatum is called the Snow Azalea because it frequently blooms at winter's end while snow is still upon the ground;hardy from zones 5B - 9A with a of height 5-8 feet.
It is native to Siberia, Mongolia, China, Korea & Japan, with showy light purple to rosy pink flowers in early to mid spring; leaves are deciduous (shed in autumn), but they turn yellow and bronze before falling.
Right now this azalea even has some buds on it!
Will this azalea flower now , I wonder?
Trying new plants is always a challenge......

looking a little sad; just planted , looking so floppy.

What fall garden would be complete with out a Mum?
This little guy survived thru last winter !
