I have been taste testing several new products I have found in the grocery store lately....
First Asana yogurt;
I received a coupon for a free large size container of this yogurt.. Picked the peach. Overall nice taste , rich ,and creamy. Nice sized chunks of peach in the yogurt. A good product.
However , calories per 175g. 160 cal. and the second ingredient listed on the container .Sugar!
So even tho this pro biotic yogurt 's unique recipe adds calcium, Vit D and some selected milk proteins.....I will pass on getting another..... based on the sugar and calories I will go back to Source yogurt. 35 cal. per serving.
Schneiders has come out with new meat products called Country Naturals.....
using what they claim ""only the Good Stuff'''; no preservatives added, no nitrates, no msg, no artifical flavours . I have tried the bacon, wieners, salami and cold cuts.... These products do have a cleaner fresher taste. However the size is 3/4 of the regular products... 375g. on the wieners and bacon. They are using sea salt but the sodium is still high 25% . Saturated and Trans Fat 40% on some product.
Still I like this product overall and would get it again... even at the increase in cost - just not as often...
Lastly I had another free product coupon for Kellogg's All-Bran Bars......
chose the original flavour. Tasty and filling bar....... Liked it...
After reading the label , wheat flour first , 2nd sugar, then 3rd comes cereal( wheat bran more sugar and malt) Calories per bar 130. So even tho this is touted as high fibre I don't think I will get this product again...... Products too high in sodium and hidden sugars are ones I try to pass up.
I do like getting coupons to try out new products so thanks to companies for that but I do wonder when companies will wise up to the fact consumers are reading labels and looking for healthier products.
